2. Data we collect
If you create an account
- Email address (private β never shown publicly).
- Public username, shown next to ratings you submit while signed in.
- Sign-in method (email and password, Google or Apple).
- Optional sex and age group. These are private, never displayed publicly and used only for aggregate statistics.
- An account ID linking your ratings and analytics events to your account.
Ratings (account or guest)
- Overall LOOQ score (1β10), cleanliness, amenities you mark as unavailable, and your answer on whether you would return.
- Optional written comments and photos.
- An optional guest nickname. Guest ratings do not require an account or an email address.
Photos and moderation
- Photo files you upload. Our servers remove hidden location (GPS), camera and other embedded details before a photo is stored.
- A record that you agreed to the Photo Upload Rules for each photo: your account ID, the photo, the rules version and the date and time.
- Reports about content: the reason, any details the reporter adds and, if the reporter is signed in, their account ID.
- Moderation records: decisions, account suspensions and the staff member responsible.
- Evidence copies: for serious reports or where reasonably needed for a complaint, investigation or legal claim, a copy of the review, its photo and the author's account ID.
Venue verification
- If you ask to represent a venue: your name, role, work email, optional phone number and any supporting evidence you upload.
First-party analytics (only if you accept)
- A random visitor ID and session ID stored in your browser's local storage.
- Device type, pages viewed, referrer, campaign/UTM source, QR-code source and steps in the rating journey.
- We record whether you access LOOQ score through our website, iOS app or Android app. For app users, we may also record the app version. This information helps us understand how our services are used and improve their performance.
- Approximate country, region and city, derived on our server from the connection at the time of the request. We do not store your IP address in analytics.
- Your account ID, if you are signed in.
- If you submit a rating as a guest after accepting analytics, we link that rating to your anonymous visitor ID so we can understand repeat use. This link is never shown publicly. If you decline analytics, guest ratings are not linked to any ID.
Temporary data in your browser
- If you start a rating and then sign in, the draft is kept in your browser's local storage for up to 24 hours so it can be submitted afterwards.
- Sign-in session data needed to keep you logged in.
- Your analytics preference.
LOOQ score does not intentionally collect your precise location through its own analytics.
If you tap Near me, we ask for your device's location solely to find places near you; your location is used only for that search and is never stored or included in analytics.
3. Why we use it and our lawful bases
- Providing your account and publishing ratings β performance of our contract with you (our Terms of Use).
- Venue verification and replies β our legitimate interest in making sure only genuine representatives respond to reviews.
- Moderation, security and preventing abuse β legitimate interests.
- Analytics β your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Optional sex and age group β your consent, given by choosing to supply it. You can remove it at any time.
- Legal obligations β where the law requires us to keep or disclose information.
4. What is public
Ratings, comments, photos, and your username or guest nickname are publicly visible on venue pages. Your email, sex, age group and verification evidence are never shown publicly. Photos are stored privately and displayed only through temporary, controlled links.
5. Venue information from Google
Venue search and venue details (such as name, address, type and map location) are provided by Google Places. When you search, your search text is sent to Google. Google's use of data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
6. Who we share data with
We do not sell your data or use advertising trackers. We use service providers (processors) to run LOOQ score:
- Hosting, database, authentication and file storage providers.
- Google (Places search; and Google sign-in if you choose it).
- Apple (if you choose Sign in with Apple).
- An email delivery provider for service notifications.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users and others.
7. International transfers
Some providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as UK adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement / Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
8. How long we keep it
- Account data: deleted as soon as you delete your account from Privacy & data. A minimal deletion record β an irreversible fingerprint of your account ID, the date and the option you chose β is kept as evidence that the request was handled.
- Ratings: while published. When you delete your account you choose: keep the numbers you gave as an anonymous βFormer memberβ review, or remove the rating entirely. Written comments, photos and venue responses to your reviews are removed either way.
- Verification records and moderation history: as long as needed to operate and audit the verification and moderation process.
- Photo Upload Rules agreement records: while the photo is published, and afterwards as part of our moderation history.
- Evidence copies: 180 days, unless our team extends this because a complaint, investigation or legal claim is still open (each extension is recorded with a reason). They are then deleted automatically. An evidence copy is kept even if you delete your account during that period, because we have a legitimate interest in dealing with the complaint or claim, or a legal obligation to keep it. Your other data is deleted as normal.
- Analytics events and links between guest ratings and anonymous visitor IDs: kept until we delete them; there is no automatic expiry. The browser visitor ID expires after 12 months. A link is removed if the rating is removed.
- Pending-rating draft in your browser: up to 24 hours.
9. Security
We use access controls so that data is only available to the people who need it, encrypted connections, and private storage for photos and verification evidence. No online service can be completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
10. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate data;
- have your data deleted;
- restrict or object to processing;
- data portability;
- withdraw consent at any time (for example, analytics).
Email hello@looqscore.com or use Privacy & data. Deleting your own account from Privacy & data takes effect immediately. For any other request we respond within one month.
11. Complaints
Please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
12. Children
LOOQ score is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version; significant changes will be highlighted in the app.
